Introduction to the Official Gazette Bureau
The Official Gazette Bureau is considered one of the state institutions. It enjoys legal personality, financial independence, and the legal capacity to undertake all actions and activities necessary to achieve the objectives and duties for which it was established. The Bureau was founded under the Decree-Law No. (33) of 2022, as the legal successor to the Bureau of Fatwa and Legislation.
The Bureau undertakes several specialized legal responsibilities, including the review of legislation referred to it by the competent authorities for publication in the Official Gazette. It proposes legal, linguistic, and technical amendments to such legislation in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law and relevant laws, without altering their essence or intended purpose. These amendments are made in consultation with the competent and relevant authorities, in preparation for their publication.
Additionally, the Bureau is responsible for preparing and producing regular and special issues of the Official Gazette (Palestine Gazette), which serves as the official medium for publishing laws, regulations, constitutional rulings and decisions, announcements, and any other materials mandated by law to be published in the Official Gazette. Furthermore, the Bureau works on preparing and developing electronic references for Palestinian legislation and making them accessible to the public.
The Bureau’s Vision:
A digital, high-quality legal and legislative environment that strengthens the rule of law.
